RIP: ITrigun (2002-2005)

Unfortunately, I've run out of space on this website, so I'm moving to Xanga

What started out as a silly tribute to Trigun later became my personal weblog during high school. We've had good times together. Goodbye, old friend.

It's been two weeks into school, and I've been too busy/lazy to update. My new suitemates are just awesome, and I get along with them as well as (if not better than) my former ones, who were already a blessing to be with. My roommate, John, just had his birthday two days ago. Helen's suite baked him a cake, as did Margaret's suite. Lucky guy.

Helen seems to be in a cooking mood lately. The new Matthews apartments have really nice kitchens, with a complete stove set and oven. So she's been cooking several times a week. That just means tasty food for me, mwahahahha.

Meanwhile, John's been watching a lot of anime lately. He finished 26 episodes of Fruits Baskets in a week. -.-". He's also been dragging me to every badminton practice he could get. That guy has a freaky amount of stamina, which is just perfect for his cross-country running. John's also addicted to building up his fish aquarium. He bought a $tiny coral last weekend that cost $40.

I just returned from the grueling 3-day All HOC retreat. I say grueling because it was just non-stop activity, except for the worship service, which tended to be a bit tedious from the way the 4th Homers were leading. It's the first time I've seen many old acquaintances, including Michael Jin, Newton, and of course, Daniel Low. Poor Daniel's just as skinny as he always was: 5'4" and about 100 lbs. He's become quite a good guitar player too.

The 4th Homers are quite an interesting bunch. They are a bit charismatic compared to us, and they're a very close group. Everyone seems to know each other very well. Anyways, cheers to Sarah, Cliff, and everyone else. You guys were great, and I'm glad to have been open enough to meet you. Saturday morning, we gave out free pearl milk teas to people waiting in line for a $8 all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurant. In return, we wanted them to fill out a survey about Christianity. Unfortunately, most of the answers were unclear or ridiculous. One person put that his #1 objective in life was to procreate. Another guy said that God was a nice guy with a cool beard and neat sandals (for anyone who's seen "Bruce Almighty").

Afterwards, Cliff drove us to Meadowville, which was a poor neighborhood with a history of crime. (Think ghetto Oakland or LA). Nearly every house had a large attack dog or an iron gate to keep out intruders. Our task was to distribute short 2-minute surveys for the startup New Hope Church in order to determine the general needs of the neighborhood. It was about this time that I started becoming acquainted with the 5th Homers. Besides Daniel, there wasn't anyone else in my grade from 5th Home, so I hung around with the high-school group. They were a fun group, and I regret not having met them earlier.

Anime-expo was a blast. Except for the lines and the waiting, everything went well. I should've taken more pictures, but we were too busy having fun. The Maaya Sakamoto concert was just awesome. I'm glad I took Helen along.

Hitman is still piles and piles of fun. I can't wait until Blood Money comes out. Now, if only these people would just stop getting in my way ...

03 June 05

Finals are coming up next week. I haven't done ANY work this Memorial Day weekend, and I'm so bummed out. Actually, I did manage to accomplish one thing: Spring photos are out.

30 April 05

My accomplishment for today: beating Syberia II in 1 day. The game's about 1-year old, but the graphics are just beautiful, even for an adventure game. The pre-rendered backdrops are more detailed than anything in Half-Life 2, and they're much more artistic. Even the CG's look like they could've come from a Lord of the Rings movie.

23 April 05

I finished all four midterms for this week, so I rewarded myself with Doom 3: Resurrection. Sadly, the game only took 1 day to beat. When playing it, I noticed how quickly the levels loaded. It took me awhile to realize that the loading times hadn't reduced at all. It's just that Half-Life 2 was 100 times more slow in comparison.

This is Helen's dorky bear. I really hated it and its bear/beer belly when she first got it. Oh well. I had a fun time w/ Helen the past few days.

19 March 05

Today is the last day of Winter quarter. I'm gonna miss everyone here over break, even though it's only 1 week long. I haven't updated the site lately because of classes, and because I've just been fooling around. I think I watched about 30 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist the weekend before finals week. I just love the series.

I2hub has become a lot faster. I saw Helen get around 7MB/s once.

And oh ... more pics of UCSD (mostly of Revelle Semiformal): UCSD Pictures - Winter '05

03 March 05

Overall, Feburary has been the crappiest month of the year. Classes are a pain in the butt and homework never seems to get much lighter. My math professor never posts the homework until the day before they're due, of which I still don't have the textbook because some company on Half.com cheated me and Ebay's claim filing system is slow.

Meanwhile, today's the Revelle semi-formal. Unlike high school, college barely has any organized dances. Sheila and Dennis are getting along very well now that Dennis is behaving as a nice little (neutered) boy. Poor Dennis

It's been a long time since the last update. Too many things have happened, and that's why I haven't been able to update recently. However, I got around to adding a lot of new pictures. Go check them out:

Oh, and happy birthday, Helen!! xx Moi xx

20 December 04

It's only the 2nd week of vacation, and I already want to go back to San Diego. For some reason, I feel so much more stressed at home than at school. Maybe it's because I actually expect to get work done but my mind is unconsciously telling me that it's vacation time. Even so, I still want to go back and be with my friends.

12 December 04

Finals are over and I've been back home for two days now. I've been hoping to chill by myself, but it's been quite hectic since I got here. I spent all of yesterday helping my mom clean out the gutter, reattach the door hinges, and fix her computer. Ever since I left, her poor Puff2K had been plagued with malware. It took me several hours to get rid of them, and the rest of these two days to update her old applications.

Fortunately, today was a bit of a break as I spent some time with my younger cousin, Chris, who's quite a prodigy at chess. His dad was busy today, so his mom, my mom, and I took him to Mechanics in San Francisco to see his chess trainer. It just so happens that Mechanics is also the place where Ben Tejes, my ex-roomie, used to play. In fact, Chris's trainer and Ben used to play chess and poker together. Small world, eh?

We went to Chris's house for dinner afterwards. Chris challenged me to a match of stratego, at which I easily beat him (again, =p). Revenge for losing miserably to him at chess earlier.

06 December 04

Finals week, and it's so sunny outside. Grrrrrr ....

24 November 04

It's 7:40pm Wednesday, and I'm the last person left in Argo Suite 240. The place is devoid of humans except for me. The same goes for Atlantis 200 once Sheila leaves in 20 minutes. I am: left behind. So until my uncle picks me up tomorrow, I can cherish this moment of peaceful solitude.

Meanwhile, 6/10 of my AP scores were posted in on the UCSD studentlink website, so I'm officially a Freshman student who came into UCSD with a senior standing. =p. However, the admissions officers really messed up the other 4 APs so I don't have any credit for biology, chemistry, French, or statistics. That means that I still can't apply for Chem 140A next quarter until they fix this up.

Well, have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

14 November 04

Helen, Sheila, Wilson, and I went to UTC mall yesterday. We window shopped for about 3 hours total, and I ended up spending a whooping $4 on a caramel Frappuchino at Starbucks. The clothing there was so nice, but everything was freakishly out of the price range for a poor college student. There was even one plain tank top on display for $130. For most of the time, we just dressed up and took pictures with Helen's camera. Sheila, on the other hand, went crazy and spent around $150 at the outlets. Also, for some reason, Helen enjoys collecting gift cards from each store.

Afterwards, we shopped at 99 Ranch Market. Helen & I spent the most money because we're both so Asian and it makes us feel at home. We probably bought enough junk food to last over a month.

I fell asleep in Wilson's car on the way back. I woke up fifteen minutes later just as we passed a freeway sign stating that we were heading towards Riverside. I asked Wilson why we weren't back yet, and he told me not to worry and that he knew where we were going.

Two minutes later, he made a U-turn back south. We retraced the highway for about 10 minutes, with Wilson reassuring us every 2 minutes that we weren't lost. About 5 minutes later, we somehow (miraculously) crossed Genesse. Wilson suggested that we take Genesse left, but I told him that we'd be going east, which is the wrong direction. However, Sheila agreed with Wilson that left was the right direction, so it was 2 vs 1 against me. We drove a total of 2 blocks before promptly running into a dead end. -.-"

Eventually, we made it back to UCSD.

09 November 04

I've been so tired today and yesterday because I've caught a stupid cold. It's not very strong yet, but it's really taking a chunk out of my strength. More importantly, it's preventing me from doing some things I would like to be doing now. (Sorry Hel.)

I started nodding off today during the first HMP3 med meeting of the year. The lethargy was just killing me, so I told the two guys sitting next to me in AED to poke me if I ever dozed off. After the meeting, I went to check out the party next door. It turned out that it was a KCCC fellowship, so I stayed there for the worship songs. For some reason, I always love the feeling I get from singing these praises.

05 November 04

Laser tag was really fun. It was my first time playing, so I was quite excited. At first, I was so confused because I kept on getting shot and I never knew who shot me. I spent nearly three minutes shooting a target until I found out that I was shooting my own base. However, I quickly grew accustomed to the game and ended up in 7th place out of the 21 players who went. The 2nd game even went better, and I placed 5th overall. Next time, I want to bring Helen along. It'll be fun target practice =p.

04 November 04

I feel that I'm getting dirtier everyday. It's already been twice that I've slept without taking a shower. The last time this occured was 2 years ago in France when my relatives & I were forced to spend a night in the car.

<1st world problems> I stole Krishna's 5GB mp3 collection several days ago, and it's taking me forever to run through it. Meanwhile, math, supposedly my best subject, is starting to become a pain in the butt. I made a resolution last week to attend class every day, but so far, I've only been to class twice. Also, my stomach constantly growls, and no one remembers to feed me. My cereal ran out, I cut my hand, white mocha no longer tastes heavenly, and the notice board on my door keeps slipping off ... it's like everything's falling apart. </1st world problems>

I'm going to sleep now.

30 October 04

I finally watched My Sassy Girl w/Helen and Sheila last night. Wilson had ditched us to visit his lil sister, so we watched it without him. Sometimes, I feel that he's such an enigma, but then, I've haven't met him in person yet.

I went to the beach today for the second time. Sheila decided to go in the water today, but I took her shoes this time. Last time, her wet & sandy shoes were unwearable for over a week. Helen & I watched the sunset, and I think I caught a stupid cold. -.-'
